All directory listing types
- In order to list your business in the directory, you must first register. You will be sent a confirmation e-mail. When you receive it, click on the link to confirm your registration, then you may log in and add your listing.
- For best results, fill in all fields completely.
- The excerpt is what will appear in the general category listing and search results. If you do not fill this in, nothing will appear on these pages except your listing and the link to the detail. This field is your opportunity to make a sales pitch to get visitors to view the details of your listing.
- A website URL is not required. If you don’t have a website, leave this field blank.
- Use the “photo” field to upload a photo. Photos can be up to 300×300 pixels, but will be resized to 150×150 pixels.
- A photo is not required. The photo will only display for premium and sponsored listings (details about each type of listing – see below).
- Photos are allowed only in the photo field.
- Each listing is allowed inclusion in up to 3 categories. Please select the most appropriate categories. (See below for making category suggestions.)
- The amount of information included in the description field is not limited. Your resume and information about your services goes in this field. Some HTML is allowed in the description field so you can use bold and italicized text.
- Links, pictures or uploaded files of any type are not allowed in the description field.
- Other than a link to your website in the appropriate field, links are not allowed.
You may modify your listing by logging in and editing it. All new listings and modified listings are held in the moderation queue until approved. TheDirectoryofLawyers.com will not make changes to the listings; however, you may be notified if there are issues with your listing and the listing will not be approved until the issues are resolved. Otherwise, listings and listing modifications are approved within 24 to 36 hours.
A thumbshot of your website (if you have one) will automatically be included in the slider once your listing is accepted for inclusion in the TheDirectoryofLawyers.com directory. If you see a message “image coming soon” in the thumbshot on your detail page, it is because Thumbshots.com has not indexed your site. Go to Thumbshots and read the FAQ for directions on how to get your website indexed. TDofL utilizes the Thumbshots free service to display these thumbshots; we do not have any relationship with Thumbshots.com or any control over what sites are indexed.
Sponsored directory listings
Sponsored directory listings are currently $15 per month, or $75 for 6 months*.
The sponsored directory listings include:
- Listing display on the TheDirectoryofLawyers.com front page under the title “Sponsored Lawyers”
- Listings display with a colored background (orange gradient fade) on the page for each category in which the listing is entered
- Photo display on the category pages for each category in which the listing is entered
- Photo display on the detail page for the listing
- Photo display on the search results page
- Listing display above premium and standard listings in all instances in which the listing appears
- Sponsored directory listings will be included in a feed to a page at The Directory of Lawyers blog

Premium directory listings
Premium directory listings are currently $10 per month or $50 for 6 months*.
The premium directory listings include:
- Listing display on the TheDirectoryofLawyers.com front page under the title “Premium Lawyers”
- Listing display with a colored background (green gradient fade) on the page for each category in which the listing is entered
- Photo display on the detail page for the listing
- Listing displayed below premium listings but above standard listings in all instances in which the listing appears
- Sponsored directory listings will be included in a feed to a page at The Directory of Lawyers blog

Standard directory listings
Currently, standard directory listings are free. TheDirectoryofLawyers.com encourages you to take advantage of the free listings*.
- Standard directory listings are listed below premium and sponsored listings on the category pages and the search results
- No photo is displayed
- Includes up to three categories
*Individuals and entities will only be approved for one standard listing. Multiple standard listing entries will be rejected.
Suggestions for your listing
The general search function only searches specific fields: title, keywords, URL. The Power Search searches any field where a search word or phrase is entered.
Since many users searching for services will try the general search first, it is recommended that you make sure the keywords field is completed with all the relevant keywords for your field of specialty to improve the chances of your listing being returned in the search results.
Category suggestions
Your user control panel includes a link to “category suggestion.” If you cannot find a category that’s appropriate for your services, you may suggest it for inclusion in the directory.
You may also send an e-mail through the contact form here at the blog.
TheDirectoryofLawyers.com will take all category suggestions into consideration. We reserve the right not to add additional suggested categories. We would like to avoid having hundreds of categories with only one or two listings. If your category suggestion is not approved, you are welcome to contact us and explain why you think an additional category is necessary.
*Pricing
Pricing may differ by category. Prices shown are the category pricing for the majority of categories.
TheDirectoryofLawyers.com reserves the right to change pricing with notice. Directory participants who have purchased a long-term listing will not be charged any additional fees until the paid listing has expired.
Participants will be given a minimum of 30 days’ notice of any pricing changes.
At such time the free standard listing is eliminated, participants in the standard listings will be given 30 days’ notice. Any listings that are not paid for after 30 days will be suspended.
Notice will be sent to the e-mail address for each listing. TDofLis not responsible for notices not received due to address changes, expiration, or spam filtering.
Payments
We currently only accept payment via PayPal. Other payment methods will be added as necessary. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Refunds
A refund may be requested in writing by submitting a request using the contact form.
Refund will be made in full if requested within the first seven (7) calendar days after the listing has been made active. No refunds will be allowed after the seven (7) calendar days have expired.
If for any reason a refund request is made via the Paypal payment system, the listing will be suspended or deleted. TDofL reserves the right to permanently ban users for abusing the Paypal refund process.
